In my mind

Awhile ago I mentioned that I was obsessed with creating art out of my sketches. In 2014, I drew a number of images out of my imagination. For some reason most of them had couples or people and flowers. To date, I have painted a number of them.
Below it is the process for painting one of these drawings, "Life Forces".
This painting intrigued me as a sketch as well as a painting, but when I initially painted it I felt the work was crowded and overwhelming; only after I clean up my lines I could really have the feeling I had when I created the sketch.
From beginning to end, met "Life Forces". 24" x 30" - Acrylics on canvas

Drawings or paintings?

During my years in college, we discussed the blurring of the line between drawing and painting.

I am not sure what to call my newest works. I call them drawings, because this is the way they started life as and it is how they feel to me. As they develop, they become more like a painting. Part of me still associates a drawing to something made with pencils.

Below are my two most recent works.
"In my heart" 24" x 30" and "Empire" 36" x 36". - Both on canvas
What do they feel more like to you? Drawing or painting?

An Artist's Life

Most people have no idea what an artist's life is about.
Our schedules can be so crazy that at times we don't know if we are coming or going.
In the same day, we deliver works for a show in one location, pick works up from another in another location. Some times they are in opposite direction. For solo or invitational shows, we deliver and pick up twenty works or more.

At times, we have more than one opening in the same week, sometimes in the same day.
In many cases, we have to apply for shows a year in advance and only God knows what will happen in that year in our lives.

As we don't know if we are going to be accepted in a show we have applied for, we may apply for another with an opening in the same date. If we are accepted in both, we are "happily" double booked.
Works that are waiting to be accepted in a show can not be entered in an other, so we need to keep track of inventory.

In the meanwhile, we are still mothers, father, wives, husbands, teachers and anything else that will allow us to create the things we love.  All those functions have their own schedules too.
No wonder artists are often stereotyped as weird. Under those circumstances who wouldn't be?
